THE DRESS

One pattern, two very different dresses, and infinite hackability! At her core, Lizz is a basic darted bodice with generous ease, a high waist, simple sleeves and the perfect scoop neckline. Throw in a fabulously full circle skirt with an inverted V waist, a multi-tier gathered skirt, a neckline ruffle AND a waistline flounce, and you’ve got all your favourite future dresses in one handy pattern!

Lizz is a multi-sized sewing pattern available in B Cup UK 2-24 / US 00-20 and D Cup UK 16-38 / US 12-34*. This listing is for the B-Cup UK 2-24. 

*Please note – dressmaker’s cup sizes have absolutely nothing in common with bra sizes! Dressmaker’s cup sizes relate to the ratio between your high bust and full bust measurements, whereas your bra size relates to the ratio between your full bust and under bust measurements. A dressmaker’s B cup indicates that the full bust that is 2″ larger than the high bust, while a dressmaker’s D cup indicates that the full bust that is 4″ larger than the high bust.

What you need:

• Your fabric
• Matching thread
• 16″-18″ invisible zipper
• A few hooks and eyes
• Tracing paper (optional; to keep your pattern tissue intact!)
• Your usual tools & sewing supplies

Fabric Requirements:

Lightweight wovens are the way to go, but the substrate-weave combination you choose will give you dramatically different effects. For drape and schwing opt for viscose challis, crepe, silk twill, tencel etc. For a softer dress go for naturals like enzyme washed linen and brushed cotton. Or crank it up a notch and try things like sheer organza and velvet!
